Hi, I’m Walter DeVeas, founder of Walter IT and a proud member of the Ruxton community. My family has called Ruxton home for four generations, and this deep connection inspires everything I do. Growing up here, I learned the importance of hard work, integrity, and helping others—values that were reinforced during my time at the Gilman School and Loyola University of New Orleans. Both schools taught me to approach challenges with character and purpose, lessons that have stuck with me ever since.
I’m also an Eagle Scout, which shaped my belief in being prepared and serving those around me. That mindset came in handy when I took on the adventure of a lifetime: hiking the Appalachian Trail. Over four months and 1,500 miles, I earned the trail name “Heisenberg” and discovered a lot about perseverance, humility, and the rewards of tackling big challenges head-on. Starting Walter IT has been my way of giving back to the community that’s been such an important part of my life.
I believe in providing affordable, reliable tech solutions with a personal touch—whether it’s helping parents keep their kids safe online, protecting local businesses’ information, or just making sure my neighbors feel confident in their technology. Walter IT isn’t just a business to me; it’s a reflection of the values that have been passed down through my family and this community for generations: honesty, kindness, and a commitment to doing things the right way.
